Changes to Gmail
Hi,
Ive received this from Google. Do we have a work around?
On 30 May, you may lose access to apps that are using less secure sign-in technology
To help keep your account secure, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password. Instead, you’ll need to sign in using Sign in with Google or other more secure technologies, like OAuth 2.0. Learn more What do you need to do?
Email software, like Outlook 2016 or earlier, has less secure access to your Gmail. Switch to Office 365, Outlook 2019 or newer, or any other email software where you can sign in using Sign in with Google.
Regards

Re: Changes to Gmail
I am already working on this. The next update will support Google OAuth2 login...

Re: Changes to Gmail
PopMan 1.3.13 supports OAuth2 sign-in for Google now.
But for this to generally work, Google first needs to approve it. Before then, I can add up to 100 email addresses for testing.
So if you or anybody else wants to test it, write me an email...

Re: Changes to Gmail
It appears, PopMan 1.3.14 supports Google OAuth2 authentication only for IMAP.
Are we going to have support for POP3?
Google has already disabled username/password mode authentication.

Re: Changes to Gmail
Hello!
Could you, please, give us a short description how to set up access to GMail, using OAUTH 2?
Also in the History.txt of PopMan 1.3.14 there is the line
(*) Use Google Sign-in Branding for "Sign in with Google" button.
What exactly does that mean? I don't see any button with that name...
Thanks for any help!

Re: Changes to Gmail
I suggest adding a new account in PopMan from scratch:
Enter name of the account. Enter server name "imap.gmail.com" and User name "my.email@gmail.com". Leave Password blank. Press "Sign In With Google" button. Complete the sign in in the web browser. Return to PopMan. OK the messagebox "Sign-in completed successfully." and close the account dialog with OK.
Of course you have to use your real gmail address instead of "my.email@gmail.com".

Re: Changes to Gmail
But where is the "Sign in With Google" button? I don't see it in the GUI and also not in the account setup window.
Re: Changes to Gmail
The sign-in button will appear below the Password field if the server name contains the string "imap.gmail". This button will be enabled if the user name contains an email address.

Re: Changes to Gmail
Oh yes, that did the trick. Thanks!
BTW: I had written imap.googlemail.com as the server name. Seemed to work before Google changed its authentification procedere.
