It will disappear in PopMan if it is marked as seen on the server by regular mail programs or web interface (read mail).

By default in PopMan the IMAP4 protocol omly retrieves unread mail. You can change this in the account settings next to the protocol drop down box (remove UNSEEN from Criteria).

According to Google, IMAP access should work:

Only if it can be accessed via POP3 or IMAP4 protocol.

Please check whether you have the setting "Rotate icon for each account" checked (on "Tray Icon" tab of the options dialog). Only if checked, the individual account colors will be used for the tray icon.

I suggest that you simply try out the settings yourself to observe and understand the effects. You can reach the account settings using menu: File > Accounts. Then select the corresponding account from the list and click the "Properties" button.

Sounds like some Antivirus / Internet Security / Firewall tool blocks PopMan from connecting to the mail servers. Did you install or update anything like that?
