Thunderbird is an email client, PopMan is a POP3 manager. An email client downloads all new emails from the server and stores them on your harddisk. The emails that have been downloaded are usually deleted from the server automatically. Therefore the email client only loads the new mails from the se...

I realize that spammers sometimes use fake emails but if I block a fake email address will it still work? You will not get any emails that have this particular email address in the "From" field of the header. But be careful: Spammers can use a valid email address of innocent people like y...

I assume that the only way to find out if Popman deleted mail because it was from an address on the black list would be to enable logging or are there any other prompts? No, there is no other prompt. Can I use just domain names or do I have to use a valid email address? You can use both: http://www...

First of all, this is not a bug, it's a (missing) feature! ;-) Selecting an "email client" program in the options dialog, means basically nothing more than: "launch this program, when pressing the 'Launch email client' button". It has no effect on the Reply To feature. When you r...

This is the normal behaviour, because PopMan loads all messages that are stored on your incoming mail server. Usually, an email client like Outlook checks for new mail, retrieves the new messages and deletes them from the server. The messages are archived on your computer and not on your (size limit...

Yes, there is support for a portable device: You have to create an empty "PopMan.ini" file in the PopMan directory. On the next PopMan startup, all settings are imported from the registry and will be saved to this ini file when PopMan quits. Then you can copy the PopMan directory to your U...

I will think about it, but I'm not sure how to integrate this feature into the GUI?! When and where do you have to tell PopMan how many messages you want to retrieve? Any ideas?

I'm not planning to release a Linux version, because this would require a complete rewrite of the entire program, which I have not enough time for. I've tried to run PopMan under Wine some weeks ago, but there have been a few minor problems (e.g. the number of mails is not displayed in the "tra...

There is a "Max line length" limit in the Indy component, that the POP3 SSL plugin uses, which means a single line of a message can not be longer than 16 KB. Usually, this limit is no problem, since messages must not have more than 1 KB of octets on a single line (due to SMTP server limita...

In fact the beta notification is already working (if PopMan.exe is a beta, it also checks for Beta updates), I just didn't update the version info file.
I will do so with the next Beta... :)

No, it is not a simple logical bug, because when terminating PopMan the tray icon still remains in the tray. You then have to move the mouse cursor over the icon, so Windows realizes, that there is no program assigned to it and removes it...

The IP 212.227.127.74 refers to ch-software.de (you can check this with ping ch-software.de).
The connection is used to check if there is a new version of PopMan available (version information is stored in http://www.ch-software.de/popman/updateinfo.dat ).

This tray icon update problem, that you describe, is a known bug in PopMan since version 1.1, when the tray icon feature was introduced. I experience the problem about 3 times a year. It seems PopMan loses the connection to the tray icon and is therefore unable to update it in any way. You have to r...

I can't get it to use .ini-file instead of registry.
You have to create an empty "PopMan.ini" file in the PopMan folder.
